Wrestling has been considered to be some of the most thrillingly exciting forms of intense physical competition that has gradually evolved into many types and developed numerous techniques depending on the match. The sport is perhaps as old as time itself and traces of interest in the bouts as an entertainment can be found in ancient texts such as in wrestling mythology. Today some of the most well known forms of this sport include men’s and women’s wrestling, intergender wrestling, midget wrestling and other categories of independent wrestling. The sport is becoming increasing complicated and diversified owing to the multi-cultural influences of the various cultures upon the many differing wrestling techniques.

Some of the well established non-folk wrestling styles are the Greco-roman wrestling, freestyle wrestling, beach wrestling, oil wrestling, pankration, Sambo and MMA and combat wrestling. Some of the most commonly used techniques include the general and most common grappling style. Grappling further includes throws, clinch fighting, pins, joint locks, takedowns and grappling holds. There is sufficient text available on the fusion of the various wrestling traditions including both, the historic and modern methodologies, which have further been incorporated by other physical competitions such as martial arts. Ever since the end of the American Civil War, Wrestling tickets became exceedingly popular for a thrilling evening with other towns men, while today the sport has brought in a wide spectrum  of women audience as well.  An intriguing feature of wrestling games these days is the dramatic, rather overly theatrical aspect of the show, where the fighters enter with their own super spectacular gestures and gimmicks, wearing fancy masks and gowns, which prompts more enthusiasm among the charged audience.

Today in the United States, the most famous, loved and popular version of wrestling which, needless to say has found its way into peeking interest from little children as well, is the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). The privately controlled entertainment organization basically deals with professional wrestling and is considered to be the most gigantic of wrestling companies in the world, given that it is watched by thirteen million people in the US, translated into thirty languages and broadcasted in more than a hundred and forty five countries around the globe. The impressively company has grown tremendously since its inception in 1952 when it was called the Capitol Wrestling Corporation, and was heavily promoted under the loud banner of the prestigious World Wide Wrestling Federation, followed by the World Wrestling Federation.

The potential empire of a company, the WWE, was sold within the same family to the Titan’s sports company in 1982, where its name was eventually changed to World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, until finally settling down to calling it World Wrestling Entertainment  in 2002 and ultimately simplifying it to WWE by 2011. The company has been noted to encourage and promote the sport of wrestling like no other organization has yet done, and by dispersing and providing more cheap Wrestling tickets to general wrestling fans than any other brand has done before. The WWE conducts several rounds of championships throughout the year which are categorized as the Divas Championship, Tag Team Championship, Intercontinental Championship, World Heavy Weight Championship, United States Championship and the WWE championship.

The majority of professional wrestlers are well trained men who are usually much enormous in size, becoming something of an entertainment with mere respect to their largeness while making an intimidating impression upon contenders and their many fans. Some of the most well-known wrestlers include The Great Khali, Kane, Giant Gonzales, Yokozuna, The Undertaker, Hulk Hugon, Andre The Giant and Paul “Big Show” Wight. In 1937, a women’s division for professional wrestling was introduced in which Mildred Burke won the very first Women’s wrestling title. The most surprising introduction of the Twentieth century however, is the Intergender Wrestling Championship, which was considered to be unchivalrous particularly on part of men, for the longest time. Such duals attracted more media and public attention when Andy Kaufman created this championship category and announced it to be open to women competitors. The most anticipated, hyped matched began in the 1980s, and these challenges were taken to an all new national level in 1990s. Luna Vachon gained much prominence as a female wrestler who defeated many of her male fighters in WWF and ECW matches. Few years later, female wrestler, Chyna, won the WWF Intercontinental Championship belt, rising to fame as the first woman to claim the prestigious title.
