In the same spirit, a rock music band '3 Doors Down' took off with its maiden flight in the arena of music world in 1996.
The key founders of '3 Doors Down' were Matt Roberts (guitar), Brad Arnold (lead singer) and Todd Harrell (bass). They grew up together in Escatawapa as friends, carrying a common fascination for rock music. At first, they just used to go around the city entertaining the people with both cover songs and their own creative numbers that were later on recorded for their first album. All three musicians lent their respective flair to the group but it was Brad who took the driver's seat by being the vocalist as well as doing drumming. He wrote the songs also, something which he had been doing since he was only 15 years old while attending his Maths class at school.
With their song "Kryptonite" being a big hit, '3 Doors Down' entered a contract with Universal Records which propelled their career to new heights. 'The Better Life' was their debut album released in 2000 with the lovers of music simply going crazy over its fresh theme. Since then, '3 Doors Down' has achieved sales of over 16 million records around the globe. The group has been very active performing over 300 concerts every year. They have also landed joint ventures with such acclaimed artistes as Seether, Staind, Nickelback, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Alter Bridge to name a few.
As the band proceeded ahead, the members gained more confidence starting the tours outside their city. The name '3 Doors Down' also got underway when during one of their tours to Foley, Alabama, the three associates were strolling through the town. They came across a building carrying a sign with some of the letters missing reading as "Doors Down". Somehow something inspired them, and that was the start of '3 Doors Down' since the band consisted of 3 people then.
The band has been received very well by the audience since its inception. In May 2008, a self-titled album by them sold 154,000 copies grabbing #1 slot on the Billboard 200. The album contained such hit singles as "Train", "Let Me Be Myself", "It's Not My Time" and "Citizen/Soldier" which was dedicated to the National Guard. 'Seventeen Days', an earlier album by the band also had scored number one on the Billboard charts. With Christmas round the corner, '3 Doors Down' has recently recorded a song "Where My Christmas Lives" which awaits its release on December 08, 2008 along with 7 other audio numbers.
'3 Doors Down' is very much active on the charity front too starting 'The Better Life Foundation' (TBLF) in 2003, an organization for the betterment and support of children. TBLF has been supporting several charity organizations across USA besides their assistance in Hurricane Katrina.
