The Johann Strauss Orchestra had 12 members at the start but now it uses services of more than 40 musicians. It was in Netherlands that the revival initiated, afterwards rising further with the Orchestra's recording of the Second Waltz from Shostakovich's Jazz Suites. Andre Rieu has toured extensively with his orchestra giving performances in Europe, North America and Japan. The orchestra has won two World Music Awards. It has been received well in many countries by some of their recordings going gold and platinum. The musician also has given solo performances, like in Australia in September 2007. Then he also played without his orchestra in a Melbourne suburb with hits like "Waltzing Matilda" and "My Way".
