Have a blast at the latest series of concerts of your favorite musician, Bob Weir! Belonging from California, United States, Bob Weir is not only an amazing singer, he is also an immensely gifted guitarist and songwriter. Mostly famous due to being a founding member of the popular group, the Grateful Dead, Bob Weir is widely known for his artistic blend of complex vocals and bringing a unique depth and a new approach to the beautiful expression of rhythm guitars. Over the course of his career, Weir has founded and been a part of numerous bands, including popular groups such as Further, Rat Dog, Bobby and the Midnites, the Bob Weir Band, King Fish, and last but most popular, the Grateful Dead. His live concerts are always refreshing and fun and fans are always on the lookout for his tickets.
Bob Weir opened his eyes in the world in 1947 in San Francisco, California, United States. He grew up in the suburb of Atherton with his adoptive parents and had a keen interest in music from a young age. He started to play the guitar when he was thirteen years old, after less successful experiments carried out on the trumpet and the piano. Weir had undiagnosed dyslexia as a child, which resulted in him being expelled from almost all the schools he went to, including the Fountain Valley School in Colorado, and the Menlo Atherton High School in Atherton. In one of his schools, he met John Perry, who would later write the lyrics to numerous songs for his band, the Grateful Dead.
In the year 1963, Bob Weir was wandering the back alleys of Palo Alto with his friend on New Year's Eve when they heard the sound of a banjo being played. Following the music to where it was coming from, they came upon the Dana Morgan's Music Store. Here, they saw Jerry Garcia, who was waiting for his students. Weir spent the entire night with Garcia, playing music together and talking. By the end of the night, they had decided to create a band, which was later influenced significantly by the Beatles in terms of their musical direction. The band was initially named Mother McCree's Uptown Jug Champions, but its name was eventually changed to The Warlocks, and then some time later, the Grateful Dead. Over the course of the Grateful Dead's thirty year old career, Bob Weir sang a part of the lead vocals as well as played rhythm guitar for the band.
Bob Weir started to experiment with different techniques of the slide guitars in the late 1970s. His amazing guitar skills are influenced strongly by the piano player, McCoy Tyner. In addition to this, he has named various artists as his influences, such has Igor Stravinsky, the Rev. Gary Davis, John Coltrane and countless more as well. He is famous for creating musical momentum and using periodic guitar sounds and moves while performing many times at the concerts of the Grateful Dead. Bob Weir released his debut solo full length album in the year 1972. The Grateful Dead also participated in the creation of the album, and the line up included his wide Donna and Keith Godchaux. One of the most successful songs from the record was titled Playing in the Band, and its live version was included in the Skull and Roses album of the earlier year.
While he continued to be a part of the Grate Dead, Bob Weir also worked with other musicians. In the years 1975 and 1976, he performed with Dave Torbert and Matt Kelly in the Bay Area band, King Fish. In addition to this, he played in the album, A Wing and a Prayer by Kelly in the year 1987. Moreover, he has appeared in more than eight hundred performances with the band called Rat Dog. He continues to release music and play with his bands, touring all over the world and performing to enthusiastic crowds.
