Grammy nominated and the winner of 2010 CMT Music Awards, Christopher Alan aka Chris Young, is a country music song-writer and singer. Although Young has been active in the American country music scene only for the past few years, his songs have already topped all country music charts. Some of his most memorable singles have been, “The Man I Want to Be”, “Voices”, “You’re Gonna Love Me”, “Drinkin’ Me Lonely”, and “Gettin’ You Home (The Black Dress Song)”.
 
Chris Young is a native of Tennessee. Richard Yates, his grandfather, was also a performer with Louisiana Hayride. Looking at his biography it could be safely assumed that Young was interested in country music from his early childhood. He participated in his school’s musical events. He also played outside of his school in the local clubs. While being in college, he was touring extensively. He also got a chance to further hone his singing skills, when he got an offer to play on regular basis at a famous club. Reminiscing about those days, Young says that it was a great opportunity for him to meet more struggling artists and learn from their experiences. He also learned how to work the crowd, an essential skill for any great performer.
 
By a stroke of luck, while performing in Texas he was encouraged by a fan to participate in Nashville Star, which was a television talent show, aired on USA Networks. Lo and behold he entered the show and won it in 2006. Soon after RCA Records Nashville, signed up with Chris Young and he released his debut single in the same year under the name “Drinkin’ Me Lonely”. This song was a chartbusting single, along with “You’re Gonna Love Me”. Both singles dominated country music charts for a long time. Both of these singles also featured in his self-titled debut studio album.
 
Chris Young continued to enjoy his music success by releasing two more singles, “Voices”, and “Gettin’ You Home (The Black Dress Song)”. He released his second album, The Man I Want to Be, in 2009. Produced by James Stroud, the album produced three consecutive no. 1 singles. It also had cover versions of Waylon Jennings’ “Rose in Paradise” (Young sang a duet with his hero, Willie Nelson) and Tony Joe White’s “Rainy Night in Georgia”. Regarding this album, Young was of the opinion that it reflected his life and his priorities, like family and music. It also expressed his liking for going out with friends on Friday nights and having a good time. He further expressed his desire that this album would be listen to by many people and that they would know him better after listening to it.
 
Young’s third studio album, Neon, is expected to be released later this summer. A single from the album, “Tomorrow” was released in February, 2011. This single is considered to be an emotional number, written by Anthony Smith, Frank Myers and Young. The anticipation of the fans could be gauged from the fact that 30,000 downloads of “Tomorrow” were already sold, before the end of its first week of release.
