Colin Hay Tickets

An artist of international fame and former lead vocalist of a well-known pop-rock, new wave and rock band, Men at Work, Colin Hay, is coming to your town! Born as Colin James Hay, he is a Scottish-Australian singer and actor, who plays wide genres of music, like country, acoustic, new wave, pop and rock. He has also performed with the legendary Beatles’ drummer, Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band.

Colin Hay, who was born in Scotland and brought up in Australia, made his mark on the music industry in early 1980s when he formed Men at Work. The band was particularly praised for its use of brass instruments and woodwind. Other members of the band were Greg Ham (saxophonist/flautist), John Rees (bassist), Jerry Speiser (drums), and Ron Strykert. Their debut album was Business as Usual, which was released in 1981. This album was a phenomenal success, which sold over 30 million copies globally.

The album and its single “Down Under” and “Who Can It Be Now?” were chart-busters and reached no. 1 album and no. single status in the United States. Men at Work have been the only Australian band to achieve this success in the US. The album and “Down Under” enjoyed the same success in the UK as well. “Who Can It Be Now?” reached no. 1 on the Australian charts, too. The album was no. 1 debut album both in Australia and New Zealand. The band was such a success that they won a Grammy in 1983 for the Best New Artist category and Canadian Juno Award for “International LP of the Year.”

The national and international success of their debut album encouraged them to release their second album, Cargo, which was released in 1983. This album, too, was a huge hit both at home and abroad with the album reaching the very top in Australia. It reached no. 3 position on the Billboard 200 album chart. Three of the singles from the album, “Overkill”, “It’s a Mistake” and “Dr. Heckyll and Mr. Jive” did extremely well in the US market. The prodigal band, however, broke up, around the time their third and last album, Two Hearts, came out in 1985. Hay, however, did not let this break up affect his music and released his first solo album, Looking for Jack, in 1987. Since than he has released albums like Gathering Mercury, American Sunshine, Are You Lookin’ at Me?, Man @ Work, Company of Strangers, Going Somewhere, Transcendental Highway, Topanga, Peaks & Valleys, and Wayfaring Sons. He has had a very successful solo career.

Apart from enjoying a successful solo career, Colin Hay has also started his own record label, Lazy Eye Records. Multi-talented Hay is not just a musician and a singer, but an actor too. He has appeared in Scrubs episode of “My Overkill”, BBC’s Casualty, CBS’s Cane, NBC’s The Black Donnellys, ABC’s What About Brian, The Mick Molloy Show, JAG, The Larry Sanders Show and Cosi. He has also been a voice in an animated movie The Wild.

Musician, singer, and actor, Colin Hay wears one more hat; he is a philanthropist as well. Heather Mills and Hay re-released “My Brilliant Feat”, to pay homage to the late soccer star, George Best. Proceeds from the sales went to Donor Family Network, which supports and promotes organ and tissue donation.

In 1996, ten years after the band had been defunct, two original members of Men at Work, Ham and Hay reunited to tour Latin America. The band had enjoyed unprecedented success there during their heyday. Other members of the band were Simon Hosford (guitarist), John Watson (drummer) and Stephen Hedley (bassist). This tour was such a success that a live CD Brazil ’96 was released in 1997. The band continued to tour during 1998-2000, all over the world. They also performed at the closing ceremony of the 2000 Summer Olympics.

The band members today perform both individually and collectively to enthrall their fans all over the world. Do not miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity to see and hear one of the greatest bands of our times! Simply buy Colin Hay Tickets now and be a part of a whole new experience!
