Collie Buddz was born in the year 1981, on the 21^st of August, in the city of New Orleans, in Louisiana, America. But has his origins in Bermuda, his mother’s home country, because as a child of five he moved there with the death of his father. Collie Buddz went to the Albert College in Belleville, in Canada. He was always entranced and interested by his island home’s urban music. Since the age of six, Collie Buddz’s interest developed in dancehall, especially because of his elder brother’s interest in it. The artists that had the major influence on his music and were his inspiration were Buju Banton, Beenie Man and Bounty Killer, who were the kings of dancehall of that generation. As a student he used to write lyrics and at the age of sixteen he stepped into the vocal booths, the first of many, to voice customized dubs for some of the sounds of the Bermudians. Slowly and gradually, with encouragement from many of the engineers and soundman whom he met while on his dub excursions, he kept his focus music and went to pursue a degree in audio engineering from Florida. Collie Buddz is known to have one those voices which are very firmly grounded. Although his foundation of music is in reggae but his music also is influenced by other genres, such as from soca to hip hop.

Collie Buddz released his debut album in the summer of the year 2007. His brother was involved as well in the recording of his demo song called Come Around. This track of Collie Buddz’s created a storm in Europe and entered at the first spot on the Billboard Reggae Chart. This song was infectious and became an anthem of marijuana as it climbed the JA charts all the way up to the number one spot. Busta Rhymes, a rapper, released his own remix of the song because of which the song’s presence increased on urban radio of America. With the release of his first album, Collie Buddz became a star on an international level as his album almost topped every chart all over the world from Germany to Japan. His debut album was so popular that it could be heard blasting out of the windows of the car from Kingston to Brooklyn, the whole summer long. The critics were highly impressed by this new reggae singing music sensation. His music inspired the other artists at that time to create remixes of the song Come Around or join in with Collie Buddz on the single’s official remix. Later on he gave guest vocals on a remix version of Beyonce’s song Ring The Alarm and with this his relationship with the Sony label began. He hooked up with the rapper Lil’ Flip on his album I Need Mine which helped in spreading the name of Collie Buddz on to the streets. Then in the year 2007 the Sony label released his second single called Mamacita as well as his debut album. Collie Buddz has been able to work with the music industry’s some of the most well-respected artists and producers along with making amazing music with the producers who were responsible for making his first album  the overnight success that it became. To get more freedom in making his music he ended his affiliation with the Sony Music Entertainment, Inc in the year 2008. Since then Collie Buddz has founded his own independent record label with the help of his brother, called Harper Digital. Collie Buddz next album will be a unique twist on the popular music of today.

Collie Buddz tours around the world extensively. He is known to have toured throughout, Japan, France, England and Germany as well as South and North America and the Caribbean. Collie Buddz tours an average of eleven months annually since 2007. He has had a nonstop touring schedule with his band called The New Kingston Band.
