After the album was released, the lead vocalist of the band, Mike McColgan departed from the group to pursue a career in firefighting. He was replaced by Al Barr, who was the lead vocalist of the band, The Bruisers. After the change in the line up, the group went to work on their second album. The record was titled The Gang's All Here and featured a more hard core street punk sound. The group received their first mainstream exposure with the release of their video, 10 Years of Service, which gained airplay on 120 Minutes, which was a popular show on MTV. In the year 1999, the band released a track called Mob Mentality in collaboration with an English punk group called The Business. The following year, they released a full length studio album of the same name, which featured the two groups' songs covered by each other, as well as cover songs by other musicians. This went on to become a major hit and gained them a massive fan following all over the world.Dropkick Murphys issued their next album in the year 2001, under the name Sing Loud, Sing Proud. The record featured a more progressive sound in this album, including collaborative works with numerous other artists such as Cock Sparrer's Colin McFaull, and Pogues' frontman, Shane, MacGowan. There was also a significant change in the roster of the group. Their guitarist, Rick Barton left the band, and his place was taken by guitarists Marc Orell and James Lynch, who was formerly part of a group called The Ducky Boys. The band issued their fourth album in the year 2003, and named it Blackout.
