Godsmack returned to the studios in 2000 to start work on its second album Awake. Soon after its release it struck number five on Billboard 200 and achieved two times the platinum status. Song ‘Vampire’ from the album got the band nominated for the Grammy Award for the title of Best Rock Instrumental Performance 2002. The band went on a promotional tour once again after the release and attended Ozzfest for the second time. ‘Awake’ and ‘Sick of Life’ were chosen to be played in the background for a US Navy Commercial.
In 2002, Sully sang the title song, ‘I Stand Alone’ for the movie The Scorpion King and the track shot up to the top position at the Radio Rock and became the most played Active Rock Song of the Year and stayed at its position for 14 continuous weeks.
After switching Tommy Stewart with Shannon Larkin, the band commenced its recordings for the third mega album, Faceless. The album speedily shot to the top of the Billboard 200 and sold one million records in US alone. The album gained first slot at the Top Internet Albums and stayed there for about two weeks. It also climbed up to ninth position at Top Canadian Albums.
The song ‘Straight Out of Line’ got the band a Grammy nomination once again but this time for the category of The Best Hard Rock Performance. Godsmack released another acoustic EP album the following year by the name The Other Side. Album received fifth position at the Billboard 200 which is a great ranking spot speaking for an acoustic EP. The album was a mere re-recording of the band’s old songs in acoustic versions and a package of three additional acoustic numbers.
In 2004, the band opened Metallica’s Madly in Anger with the World Tour. IV, band’s fourth studio album, was released in 2003 and subsequently the band set off on the IV Tour. Expectedly, the album claimed the top position at the Billboard 200, selling around 211,000 copies within a week of its release. On band’s ten years of operations, it gifted its fans a greatest hit album with the name, Good Times, Bad Times… Ten Years of Godsmack. In 2010, The Oracle was released selling 117,000 copies in its first week.
