It had hit numbers like, “Messin’ with the Kid”, “The Ballad of Sleepy John”, “Maria, Maria (It’s a Sin to Tell a Lie)”, “Gracie”, “Judgement Day”, “Freeport Boulevard”, “By the Side of the Road, Dressed to Kill”, “Cry Yourself Dry”, “Down in the Valley Woe”, “Mexican Girl”, “Travelin’ Song”, “Tell Me Mama, Tell Me Right” and “Gone Wanderin’”. The album became a hit instantaneously and won the California Music Award in 2003. It also topped Americana charts and stayed there for more than a year.
In 2004, his album, Sweet Somewhere Bound, was released. It contained popular singles like, “Don’t Mind Me, I’m Only Dying Slow”, “Everything to Me”, “Sad to Say Goodbye”, “Emily’s in Heaven”, “Seven Jealous Sisters”, “Alice on the Rooftop”, “I Don’t Care About My Baby”, “Write a Letter Home”, “A Thing Called Rain”, “Miss Madeline (3 Ways to Love Her)”, “Sweet Somewhere Bound”, “Honey I Been Thinking About You”, and “About Cell Block #9”.
In 2005, Jackie Greene signed up with Verve Forecast, a major record label. His album, American Myth, was released in 2006, under the new record label. This immensely successful album contained hit songs like, “Marigold”, “Supersede”, “farewell, So Long, Goodbye”, “I’ll Let You In”, “Closer to You”, “Cold Black Devil/14 Miles”, “When You’re Walking Away”, “Love Song; 2:00 AM”, “Never Satisfied (Revisited)”, “I’m So Gone”, “Just as Well”, “So Hard to Find My Way”, “Hollywood”, and “Intro”.
In 2008, his album, Giving up the Ghost, was released. In order, to promote his new album, Jackie Greene performed “Like A Ball & Chain”, from his latest album, live on Late Night With Conan O’Brien. “I Don’t Live in a Dream”, another single from the same album, featured on various episodes of Life, a NBC television series. The same song also featured on ABC’s, Private Practice.
He is one of the few artists to have the honor of performing with maestros like Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal, Susan Tedeschi, Huey Lewis, Ratdog, and B.B. King. Furthermore, Greene has also performed at festivals like Rothbury, Outside Lands, Bonnaroo, Winnipeg Folk, Wakarusa, South by Southwest, Newport Folk, Newport Jazz, Grateful Garcia Gathering, Mountain Jam, Gathering of the Vibes, and All Good. He also teamed up with Phil Lesh and Friends, alongside Steve Molitz, Larry Campbell and John Molo, to play the songs of the Grateful Dead. A similar gig was performed by him by teaming up with Gov’t Mule, singing the songs of the Rolling Stones.
