Kiss is an American hard rock and heavy metal band originating from New York City. In 1975, they released their third album Dressed to Kill with the now famous song, Rock and Roll All Nite. By this time, they had built a reputation for themselves as spectacular live performers. In 1975, they released the double live album Alive! which was instantly certified gold and was a massive success. In 1976, they released the album Destroyer which contained the number seven hit single, Beth, and which immediately became a gold album.
Within a year of this album, Kiss had released three more albums, all of which were instantly certified as platinum. In just two years, the band earned millions and were ranked as the Most Popular Band in America. They were popular all over the world and made waves in Japan with their five sold out concerts, breaking the record made by The Beatles. In 1977, their fame had reached unmatched heights and even a comic book by Marvel titled as Howard the Duck was published. In 1978, they released the album Double Platinum and in just two years, they earned over a hundred million dollars in merchandise sales only at a tune of fifty million dollars a year.
