Maroon 5 is a band constituting of 5 members with their origin from Los Angeles, California, United States. The genres of music they have produced with zest to make their listeners enjoy it are alternative rock, pop rock, blue-eyed soul and funk rock. The active members of the band are Adam Levine, James Valentine, Jesse Carmichael, Michael Madden and a recent replacement of the former drummer Ryan Dusick; Matt Flynn.
Maroon 5 is an evolution of the garage band named as Kara's Flowers; name inspired by the girl all the band members had a collective crush in Brentwood School, came into being in 1994 and performed in whatever capacity available to them till the year 2001. Initially Kara's Flower constituted of Levine, Carmichael, Madden and Dusick. The metamorphosis of the band Kara's Flower into Maroon 5 was started when the influential ideas of urban fusion was brought back home by Adam Levine and Jesse Carmichael after their time spend in a college in Long Island, New York due to their liaisons with African-American college fellows. With this amazing revitalized spirit they influenced Jordan Felstein to become their full time manager and after a long struggle facing lots of rejection they finally got chance to work with the label like Octane Records. Working with this label was the reason of band's new name and the additional member James Valentine fulfilling the job of a full time guitarist being a breather to Adam Levine to concentrate on his lead singing.
In the year 1997 they released their first album 'The Fourth World' as Kara's Flowers. Unfortunately the album did not turn out well. In the year 2002 after being Maroon 5 they released their album 'Songs About Jane' and after a slow start the album picked up good acknowledgment. It was much liked in Australia where it reached number 2 on charts, United Kingdom, United States and New Zealand. The singles 'Harder to Breathe', 'This Love', 'She Will be Loved' and 'Sunday Morning' were much liked by the listeners. After the release of the album the band did non stop touring with various artists across seventeen countries. These continuous tours brought an old sports injury of the percussionist and back up vocalist Ryan Dusick and he was replaced by Matt Flynn.
After the release of their first album and the constant touring, Maroon 5 released their second album in the month of May in the year 2007. They did most of the recording for the album in 2006. The album was named 'It Won't Be Soon Before Long'. The single 'Makes Me Wonder' opened the charts at number 64 but eventually reached number 1 position which is considered to be the biggest jump ever in the Billboard charts. This album also won the Billboard Music Award of Top Digital Album, 'Makes Me Wonder' won the Best Pop Performance by A Duo or Group With Vocals at Grammy Award and the album was also nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album at Grammy Awards.
Currently Maroon 5 is working on their upcoming album which will be released in the year 2010. They have announced the titles of their five songs of this upcoming album; 'How', 'I'm Never Gonna Leave This Bed', 'Wasted Years', 'Last Chance' and 'Don't Know Much About That'.
