Martin Short is Canadian artist and hi full name is Martin Hayter Short. He was born in the year 1950 in the city of Hamilton Ontario. Short has a degree in social work from the University of McMaster whereas his elementary education was Westdale Secondary School. He didn’t had any ambitions of acting while he was in university, it happened one day in Toronto that he got a chance to act in the famous musical of Stephen Schwartz called Godspell and this was primarily the start of his acting career. More success came to Martin in the year of 1979 when he appeared in a popular American sitcom by the name of The Associates, from here he got a role in another popular sitcom called I’m a Big Girl Now. Short was advised by his fellow actors to pursue a career in comedy and this led him to appear for almost a year on the Saturday Night Live show during the mid 80’s. Saturday Night Live was basically taken over by Martin Short once Eddie Murphy departed and he managed to keep the audience interested in the show by mimicking legends like Katherine Hepburn and Jerry Lewis, this show actually played a major role in catapulting his career to a new height. Martin Short remained with Saturday Night Live from the year 1984 and continued till 2004.
 
In the year 1989, Martin Short performed in a show on TV called I Martin Short Goes Hollywood then he started doing his own program series by the name of The Martin Short Show that was on air from 1994 till 1999. After that he appeared on three more TV shows namely Primetime Glick, Martin Short Shorts and Jimmy Glick in Lalawood. Apart from TV short has been regularly appearing in mainstream films like For The record, The Family Man, The Love Boat, Second City TV, Miss Peach of the Kelly School, tall tales and Legends, Really Weird Tales, Alice in Wonderland, Get Over it, Curb Your Entrhusiasm, 101 Dalmatians 11: Patch’s London Adventure, Barbie as the Prince and the Pauper, The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause , The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That and How I Met Your Mother. He has won a number of prestigious award and honors like an Emmy Award for his program SCTV Comedy Network, this program was given the award in category of Outstanding Writing or Music Program. Besides this In the year 1993 he won a Theater World Award for the musical Little Me. He has won a Tony Award as well as an Outer Critics Circle Award. He was inducted in the Canada Walk of Fame in the year 2000. In the year 2002 he was given a Queen Elizabeth 11 Golden Jubilee medal.
