Mint Condition initiated in Saint Paul when band members still High School students. Playing at local festivals and clubs, the band was scouted by Jimmy Jam. Perspective Records shelled this young talent set and helped them craft heir debut album Meant To Be Mint. The album hit stands in 1991 and was able to score public and critical acclaim for their style and versatility. With New Jack Swing hype on the front their single Are You Free and Forever In Your Eyes were able to make a mark. However, Breakin' My Heart Brown Eyes became an R&B and general chart topper. The single also became an RIAA Gold. From The Mint Factory (1993) stormed charts with U Send Me Swingin, Someone to Love and So Fine and made the album RIAA platinum certified.
What Kind of Man Would I Be in 1996 brought Mint Condition back into limelight. Featured in the album Definition of a Band, the album and the song became phenomenal hits. The albums became an all time best seller that peaked charts in no time. Mint Condition was an R&B wonder that was celebrated. An RIAA Gold certification for What Kind Of Man Would I Be? and the success of You Don't Have to Hurt No More won the album Gold Certification too. Mint Condition was a celebrity that was a promising name of R&B in the time of New Jack. The band didn’t stop here, The Collection: 1991-1998 their first compilation came and the band was celebrated again. In 1999 Mint Condition changed label to Elektra for Life's Aquarium. This album too was a hit on the R&B charts and featured If You Love Me and Is This Pain Our Pleasure, both becoming the hottest R&B numbers to be played on radio waves.
With the new millennium setting in, the band took a respite. A hiatus of six year the band reformed itself and re-mastered Livin' The Luxury Brown under Caged Bird Records. As an independent release, the album was big, it won great public and critical appraise and went well commercially. Two year later E-Life came and banged R&B doors with Baby Boy, Baby Girl and Nothing Left To Say. 7.. (2011) became Mint Conditions first collaborative effort. With credits to named like Kelly Price the album gave R&B hits Caught My Eye and Not My Daddy.
Stringing studio recording Mind Condition remained highly focused on live tours and concerts. Their live performances became a hallmark of live R&B, showcasing funky rock number and love ballads wrapped in soul and jazzy blues.
