The album did not do as well as was expected though it sold more copies than their previous album. Success came Red Hot Chili Peppers way after the release of their third album which was called The Uplift Mofo Party Plan. It was given gold certification. Some of the well-known songs from their first three albums are "Get Up and Jump" (1984), "Jungle Man" (1985), "Hollywood (Africa)"(1985) and "Fight Like a Brave" (1987).
After the release of their fourth album, the journey was all uphill for Red Hot Chili Peppers. The fourth album was called Mother’s Milk. It was released in 1989. It reached the fifty-second position on the US Billboard 200 chart and thirty-third on Australian charts. Later, RIAA certified it platinum in the USA. It received gold certification in Canada. The album’s two tracks, “Higher Ground” and “Knock Me Down” reached eleventh and sixth position on the US Modern Rock Tracks. The former also charted at fifty-fourth position in the UK charts and forty-fifth in the Australian and French charts.
The music of Red Hot Chili Peppers reached phenomenal heights with their next five albums. Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991), One Hot Minute (1995), Californication (1999), By the Way (2002) and Stadium Arcadium (2006) went multi-platinum not only in the USA but in the UK, Australia, Canada as well as the whole of Europe. Moreover, Stadium Arcadium reached the top position in all the charts in the US, the UK, France, Canada, Switzerland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Australia, Austria, Germany and Finland. There were numerous songs from these albums which took the world by storm. However, a few of them even received individual RIAA certification. One of them is “Under the Bridge”, song from Blood Sugar Sex Magik. It was their also their first song to be featured in the top five of the charts. Other great hits are “Scar Tissue” and “Californication” from the album Californication, “By the Way” from the album of the same name, "Tell Me Baby", "Snow ((Hey Oh))" and “Dani California” from Stadium Arcadium.
