Ringo Starr & His All Star Band was kind of a unique tour idea that was conceived by popular music producer David Fishof in the year 1989.

The main idea behind this concept tour was that the headlining artist will always be Ringo Starr and he will be accompanied on the tours by a different lineup of musicians and artists who are also acclaimed star artists in their respective genres, they can either be good guitarists, keyboard players, drummers and singers. Most of the time the lineup for the tour is changed and since debut Ringo Starr & His All Star Band has gone on tour twelve times.
The first ever Ringo Starr & His All-Star Band tour that started in 1989 featured great artists like guitarist and singer Joe Walsh of Eagles, bassist Rick Dank of root rock group The band and keyboard player Dr. John. In the year 1997-98 guitarits Peter Frampton of Humble Pie, bassist Jack Bruce from Cream, keyboardist Gary Brooker of the band Procol Harum joined Starr on the tour. The tour of 2011 included Wally Palmar on guitars from the group The Romantics, Gary Wright on keyboards of the group Spooky Tooth, bassist Richard Page from the group called Mr. Mister and on drums it was Gregg Bissonette. The current lineup of 2012 will include once again Ringo on drums and vocals and this time he will be again be accompanied by Bissonette and Richard Page on bass whereas some other musicians are guitarist Steve Lukather of the band Toto, keyboardist Greg Rolie who plays for Santana and the band Journey and on saxophone it will be Mark Rivera.
Ringo Starr has been active in the music industry for over five decades now. He was born in Liverpool, England in the year 1940 as Richard Starkey. He started playing music in his early teens and in the late 50’s he formed a pop and rock & roll band by the name of Rory Storm and the Hurricanes. This was the era of The Beatles success and in the year 1960 he met the band members for the first time and they got impressed from his command over the drums, so as a result after working with The Beatles as a session musician for some time he officially joined the group in 1962. The Beatles was officially disbanded in 1970 and during this time Starr recorded on the bands twelve studio albums. Ringo Starr continued performing as a solo artist and released sixteen studio and ten live albums which managed to do reasonable business and did enter the charts. Starr has also acted in mainstream films like Son of Dracula, The Kidz are Alright, The return of Bruno, yellow Submarine, Blindman, 200 Motels, Thomas The Tank Engine & Friends and Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.
