The Vans Warped Tour is a touring event consisting of extreme sports and music. It was founded in 1994 by Kevin Lyman. The inspiration for the tours hit him while working on shows such as "Vision Skate Escape and Holiday Havoc" which consisted of skateboarding contests along with music. The name "Warped Tour" is named after the "Warp Magazine" which covered surfing, snowboarding, skateboarding and music. Since 1995, the tour has been sponsored by Vans, the BMX/skateboarding shoe manufacturers, hence the name "Vans Warped Tour". The tour is known as a yearly celebration for keeping punk rock alive.
