Minor League Baseball team Akron Aeros is based in Akron city of Ohio and was established in 1980. The team is a Double A affiliate of major league basketball team named Cleveland Indians and plays in  baseball’s Eastern League. Their home stadium is located in downtown Akron and is named Canal Park, which has a capacity to accommodate over 9,097 spectators at a time. History of the team dates back to 1980 when it was initially based at Lynn, Massachusetts. At that time the team was named as Lynn Sailors, where it was a Double A affiliate of Seattle Mariners first and then of Pittsburgh Pirates. The team moved to Burlington, Vermont just after four years of its formation, and was renamed to Vermont Reds. There, the team was a Double A affiliate of Cincinnati Reds. After some years the team was again renamed to Vermont Mariners, and remained as Double A affiliate of Seattle Mariners again.
 
The team moved to Canton, Ohio in 1989 and was renamed as Canton-Akron Indians. The team was taken up by Cleveland Indians as their Double A affiliates and played there home games at Thurman Munson Memorial Stadium. Their playing record kept getting better consistently with the passage of time, with their appearing in playoffs every year consecutively from 1984 till 1993. They also won Eastern League titled for three consecutive years, from 1984 till 1986. The team finally moved to their present home Akron in 1994. A purpose built stadium was constructed for them in Akron that opened in 1997 and has been serving as their home stadium ever since, named Canal Park. Their new name was also selected as Akron Aeros in 1996 that was selected from options that included Spirits, Quests and Blasts.
 
The team’s playing record deteriorated temporarily after 1993, with their not being able to qualify for the playoffs for some years. The boys took the challenge well and through consistent efforts and hard work, they won back their position among the competitors soon. Their ranking improved and so did their fan following. The team has always been a popular one, with many of their games being sold out. In recent years, the team has performed remarkably well, breaking many of their half century old records. The team has also been in the limelight in 2010-11 particularly after introducing some new items at Canal Park that were highlighted by the comedian Lewis Black in television show named The Daily Show. The show not only brought much public attention to the new menu items, but also served as a publicity stunt for the team and their improving attendance after the show proves this fact.
