Clemson Tigers Tickets
Clemson Tigers is a name given to all the athletic teams of Clemson University. The Tigers are a member of Division I of the NCAA in the Atlantic Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference aka ACC. There are a total 19 Clemson teams which compete in several sports. The men's teams include, basketball, football, baseball, tennis, soccer, golf, track and field (both indoor and outdoor), swimming, cross country and diving. The women sporting teams include, soccer, basketball, tennis, volleyball, cross country, track and field (indoor and outdoor), swimming, diving and rowing.
There is an interesting story behind the name of the varsity. When Clemson University was known as Clemson Agricultural College of South Carolina, in 1896, it was paid a visit by famous football coach Walter Riggs. Riggs was inspired by Princeton Tigers and hence gave the Clemson's The Tiger as their mascot. The logo of the Tiger Paw came way later, in 1970 to be precise. It was developed by Helen Weaver of Henderson Advertising. It was prepared from a mold of one of the big cats in St Louis Zoo. The Bengal Tiger of St Louis Zoo has inspired several other sporting teams as well. Clemson Tigers are just one of them.
The most popular and successful of all Tigers teams is the football team, which is a 13 times ACC Champion as well as the current ACC Atlantic Division Champion. Other than that, the football team has won numerous Bowl championships including the 2009 Music City Bowl 2009. No less successful than the football team is the Tigers Baseball team. It has won ACC Championship an impressive 14 times. The last victory came not long ago, in 2006 to be precise. Other than, they have won 17 ACC Regular Season Champions. 2006 was the best year for the baseball team since it won ACC Atlantic Division Championship as well as made a CWS Appearance.
All the other Tigers teams are considerably successful in their particular sports as well. All this is partly because of their over whelming talent as well as due to world class training facilities at the varsity. The best Clemson facility is Memorial Stadium aka Death Valley. That is where the men's football team plays. Both men's and women's team play in Littlejohn Coliseum whereas the men's baseball team has the Doug Kingsmore Stadium to itself. The Riggs Field plays home to Tigers soccer teams.
The Tigers have a long and bitter rivalry with South Carolina Gamecocks. Whenever the two go head to head, you can be sure of a great game. The football game between the two gets all the attention in the world. Tigers have several other rivalries as well which make their games all the more exciting to watch. Georgia Tech, NC State, Boston College and Florida State are some of the other rival colleges. A fixture betwixt Tigers and any of these teams is a must to watch. Even if you are no fan, get Clemson Tigers tickets for a truly enjoyable game.
