Detroit Tigers Tickets
Multiple times World Series Title winners, Detroit Tigers represent the city of Detroit in the Wolverine State on the baseball field against the other Major League Baseball Franchises. Tigers play their home games at the Comerica Park, where they moved back in 2000. Tigers are also one of the eight charter franchises of the American League, as it was in 1894 when the club was originally founded.
Prior to Tigers, Detroit was home to Detroit Wolverines which was the member of the National League. Wolverines were formed in 1881 and since the team wasn't able to attract much fans to its home games Wolverines didn't survive long and subsequently, it disbanded in 1888. In an attempt to keep the baseball alive in Detroit, a new franchise was formed was formed in 1889 that became the member of the international league. As the team was able to earn the League Championship soon enough, the attendance of the fans at the home games started to incline but all in vain, as the League temporarily disbanded later on and so did the team.
With the reorganization of the Western League in 1894, another Detroit based baseball club became its member and played their home games at the Boulevard Park. In 1896 the team moved to the newly constructed Bennett Park and played their first game at the Park on April 13 of the same year.
Detroit Tigers got their hands on their first ever World Series title back in 1935. The season initially started out poorly for the Tigers, and everything remained the same throughout the first few weeks of the season. However later on as the season progressed, Tigers turned the sheets and scored the winning streak of 10 games and then another streak of consecutive 9 wins. Tigers remained at the top of their game throughout the rest of the season except for the last three weeks when their performance declined considerably. However with the final season record of 93-58, Tigers were able to take the home the title that year. After almost ten years later, Tigers won their second World Series Title in 1945, while the rest of the Championship Titles came to them in 1968 and 1984.
Tigers started off their 2009 Season with the Fiery Hot start, although they were not expected to do so. Although the team lost of some of its renowned players, but still they were able to gain their AL Central lead and maintain it as well. Although the team remained at the first spot for the 146 days during the season, but by the end of the season luck did not play its part and hence Tigers finished the season with the AL Central title to their name.
Tigers will kick off their 2010 season on April 5, 2010 in an away match against Kansas City Royals and will play their first home game of the season on April 9, 2010 in a matchup against Cleveland Indians.
