Hailed from Minneapolis, Minnesota - Minnesota Twins is an American professional baseball team. They are one of the eight charter franchises of American League and members of the Central Division of MLB. The franchise came into existence in 1901 and as the Washington Nationals, sometimes called Washington Senators, and continued playing with the same name until 1960. In 1960, the franchise was referred to as Minnesota Twins, taking its name from the Twin Cities area of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. The Twins call the Hubbard Humphrey Metrodome their official ballpark.
The Minnesota Twins have seen several ups and downs all through the years. The '70s would see the Twins' performance dwindling in various areas of the game. They were experiencing hard times to bring the home run as well as the pitching department at par. It wasn't until late '80s when did this slump come to an end. Later, by early '90s the Twins had regained their lost form. They were not only improving on the whole but they had acquired couple of genuinely talented batters and pitchers as well. In 2007, the baseball fans worldwide were thrilled to see the magic that the Minnesota Twins had conjured. The Twins continued gaining momentum and now it's deemed as a hot MLB contender.
The Twins haves played at various stadiums till date. They played in Metropolitan Stadium from 1961 to 1981 and then moved to the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. is their current ballpark. The Twins have lately demanded for a new stadium which is currently being developed. The new Twins Ballpark would possibly be called Target Field which is expected to open its doors to public in 2010.
