National Invitational Tournament (NIT) Season Tip-Off is the famous college basketball tournament that is held annually in Madison. The great tournament is held in the month of November every year close to the beginning of the season. NIT is tournament is arranged by National Collegiate Athletic Association. The first two rounds of the tournament are held at the campus while the semi-final and the final rounds are held in the Madison Square Gardens.

Preseason NIT is United States' oldest collegiate basketball tournament. The history of the tournament dates back to 1985 when these games were being held in tiny campus gyms and armories.
