The musical has been presented across many countries and has been performed in more than 20 local languages. The producers have also converted it into a television video. The musical was reckoned as the longest running in London, and beaten only by Les Miserables in 2006.

The Broadway performance of Cats was also highly successful and it became the longest-running musical with more than 6,000 shows. It was only 'Phantom of the Opera' that superseded its New York record in January 2006.
