Le Nozze Di Figaro is a four-act opera by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Le Nozze Di Figaro is the Italian for 'The Marriage of Figaro'. Based on the comic stage play of Pierre Beaumarchais' called "La folle journee' ou le Mariage de Figaro"' the opera's Italian libretto was written by the famous Lorenzo Da Ponte. Le Nozze Di Figaro became the first collaborative work connecting Mozart and Da Ponte' and was very successful; although Beaumarchais' play' at first' was banned in Vienna due to its satire of the upper classes' and was considered dangerous in the era prior to the French revolution. The success of Le Nozze Di Figaro led to two more collaborations between the two - the composer and the librettist: Don Giovanni and Cosi fan tutte.
The storyline of the comic opera Le Nozze Di Figaro is quite twisted' in which all the characters' such as Count Almaviva' Countess Rosina Almaviva' Susanna' Figaro' Cherubino (Count's page)' Bartolo' and Marcellina' experience varied emotions like anxiety' sorrow' and sometimes anger. This opera is an extension of the plot of The Barber of Seville some years later' and depicts a day in the palace of the Count Almaviva near Seville' Spain. The Count discovers that a page - Cherubino' is interested in the Countess and tries to chuck him out by commissioning him in his own regiment. The Countess' Susanna and Figaro get to know about this and plan to humiliate the Count' while also expose his faithlessness. Many twists and turns are seen in the opera from there onwards' which cannot just be told' and have to be watched and experienced live. The entire opera is set in major keys' except one number - L'ho perduta' which is in a minor key. The most popular part' musically' is the overture and is often played as a concert piece. In addition' it has also been used in the opening to the 1983 film Trading Places.
These varied angles of the opera has resulted in the making it a huge sensation worldwide. Soon' Le Nozze Di Figaro will be gracing the stage at a place near you' so you better book your Le Nozze Di Figaro Tickets now!
