Le Reve is the name of the production that was the first to open in the Wynn Las Vegas casino resort. The name 'Le Reve' was originally the working name of the resort before it was changed to Wynn Las Vegas. This French name translates into English as 'The Dream' and is the name of Picasso's painting, which is now a showpiece painting and is owned by Steve Wynn. The show features acrobatics (high above the ground), and amazing special effects and great live music, all set in a one million-gallon (water) capacity theater. The distance of each seat from the stage is not more than 40 feet. Created by the gifted director Franco Dragone, who has also directed magnificent Cirque du Soleil shows like La Nouba, O, Alegrla, Mystere, and Quidam, Le Reve was quite an expensive show to produce as nearly $30 to $40 million were spent in its production. However, the exact amount of money spent on this project has not yet been revealed by the director.
It was the 6th of May, 2005 when the show had its world premiere, whereas, the regular show schedule has been initiated ever since March 29, 2005. The show's rights from Dragone have recently been bought by Wynn Las Vegas, in order to implement a few changes in the show, including the logo. Although, all rights are now reserved by Wynn, but Dragone is still on the label.
Le Reve sheds light upon the story of an "everyman" character, called Wayne, and his dreams. The character of Morpheus, which is reminiscent of an ancient warrior, guides him through his journey. Other characters also include Four Angels, which is a comic quartet. The total cast comprises 85 characters, and it is an obligation for every member of the cast must become scuba-certified before performing in the theater.
