Riverdance Tickets

If you are looking for a great theatrical show with some exotic dancing then look no further for Riverdance is exactly what you need. It features some of the most magnificent dancing routines of the traditional Irish step dancing. It is a very fast dance with a lot of rapid leg and foot movement, like tap dance with little or no movement of the rest of the body, keeping arms especially very still and stiff. This kind of dance finally got the lime light it deserved with the popular theatrical show Riverdance and now people cannot seem to have enough of it and all for the right reasons.

This dance was born and evolved in Ireland but it quickly grew popular to become a traditional Irish dance. Ever since the show began, its fame is ever increasing. Today, it has become a regular feature of all public festivities. Large groups of people come in together to perform. Interestingly enough, most of these performers are neither Irish nor of Irish ancestry. This simple fact states a lot about the recent popularity of the dance. In the solo dance performance, the upper body is generally kept incredibly stiff with limited movement of arms and rapid leg movement. The movement of the feet is required to be measured with extreme precision. These two kinds of dances are few of the flavors of this fantabulous, full of live dance. Riverdance does full justice with both kinds of performances.

The first act which led to the making of a whole new show was presented during the intermission of a singing competition called Eurovision Song Contest. It happened way back in April 1994. The engrossing performance dumbfounded, stunned the audience and got a well deserved standing ovation. As a result, the interval show was voted the most popular interval show by the audience at the Congratulations: 50 Years of Eurovision Song Contest. Michael Flatley and Jean Butler, the Irish Dancing Champions choreographed and executed the first performance. They were joined by RTE Concert Orchestra which worked in collaboration with Celtic choral group called Anuna.

Produced by Moya Doherty, a husband and wife team, the show was met with great enthusiasm which gave rise to a whole Riverdance generation and made quite some waves all around. A track consisting of a recording of an act from the show topped the Irish Singles chart in 1994 with several others extremely successful as well. When Flatley left the show due to some argument over his contract, Butler was joined by Colin Dunne. Eventually, they both left the show as well but they received considerable recognition in return for their work on the show. Butler went on to win an award whereas Riverdance remains Dunne's most notable work to date. If you are all up for an exciting show then this is all you have been looking for. You will love the high energy performances and will be forced to appreciate the extensive skills of the underrated Irish tap dance so grab your Riverdance tickets pronto!
