Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky is known for given out numerous hit ballets throughout his life time. Originally ballet was performed by Moscow City Ballet, and back then it wasn't welcomed with much positive reviews, but later on it went on to become one of the finest ballets of all times. For this ballet Tchaikovsky worked with the famous choreographers of that era, Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov. After is original production, Swan Lake was reprised at a couple of occasions and received positive reviews from most of the critics.
The ballet tells the magical and romantic story of Prince Siegfried and a swan which happens to be a woman in fact. As the Prince sets out on his hunting spree he comes across a swan at which he aims his bow and arrow to shoot initially; but he is later compelled not to do so as that swan turns out to be a beautiful lady who happens to be put under a spell by an evil sorcerer.
Because of that spell Swan is compelled to swim in the lake of tears all day long, while during the night time she can turn back to human again. As for the spell, it can only be broken if a virgin prince pledges his infidelity to her for eternity. After that woman tell her side of the story to the Prince, she asks him to save her and that if he refuses her, she would remain a Swan forever. Fortunate enough, Prince Siegfried falls in love with that woman and agrees to do so. But then again the evil sorcerer comes into play and casts another one of its spells, due to which Prince accidently proposes some other lady, who he thinks is actually the woman that he previously met. As soon as that woman, who is under spell, finds about this, she threatens to kills herself and moreover she throws herself in to the lake and so does the prince, only to be eternally unified in their afterlife.
