Originally named as William Thomas Tommy Emmanuel, this talented guitarist and occasional singer belongs to Australia. Tommy Emmanuel developed a love for music at a very early age and got his first guitar at the age of four. His mother taught him to play the guitar and by the age of seven, he was an active fan of Chet Atkins. In 1961, when he turned six, he was already professional playing with musicians. His talents were recognized and appreciated by his family and they formed a band to support Tommy. Playing rhythm guitar, he spent most of his life touring Australia. After settling in Parkes, he shifted to Sydney where he got his national fame by winning a talent contest. He started playing drums in 1970s with his brother Phil in the band Goldrushas. Tommy got his fame by working session on several albums as well as jingles.
During the 1970s Tommy started working with The Southern Star Band as the lead guitarist. Working his way up, he joined the Dragon in 1980s. He has also done a tour with Tina Turner in 1978. He started his solo career after leaving the group. Tommy has worked with famous artists like Chet Atkins, Sir George Martin, Eric Clapton, Air Supply, Les Paul, Doc Watson and John Denver. Along with his brother, he also played at the Summer Olympics Ceremony in Sydney in 2000. The event was seen by 2.85 billion people all over the world, and it brought him immense success. This talented guitarist faced health issues during 2007 but overcoming all the problems, he came back in full swing during 2008.
