The story of Xanadu revolves around a struggling artist Sonny who feels miserable about his plight. In the meanwhile the beautiful Greek Muse Clio along with her sisters witnesses his demise and can't stop herself from helping him. She asks for her father Zeus to let her go on earth to lend some inspiration to this withering artist. Clio disguises herself as a hip Australian babe on roller skates wearing leg warmers. Clio also changes her name to Kira to make her character as a mortal sound more convincing. Clio has a plan to inspire Sonny to create a roller Disco as the 80s were the decade of Disco.
The sisters of Clio can't stand the attention Clio is been given and are totally green faced at the Zeus promise of giving Xanadu to Clio. They create a conspiracy of prompting Clio to break one of the rules of Zeus. They decide that if Clio falls in love with a mortal that will infuriate Zeus as muses shan't fall in love with humans. While Clio Aka Kira and Sunny are happy building the artistic disco, the evil sisters hit Clio with a magical love arrow. In no time the love is in the air with Kira and Sonny having feelings for each other. Clio feels guilty in the beginning but can't resist the temptation and confesses her love in front of her sisters. They make her realize that she can't fall in love with a mortal. When Clio tells her reality to Sonny he can't seem to believe all this and doubts her feelings. Soon he realizes that he can't let go on her and all of it starts making perfect sense. On the other side When Zeus gets to know about this as expected he is fuming with anger at Clio. One of the Zeus wives tells him to cut her some slack and unravels the sisters' conspiracy. Turns out the arrow never touched Clio's heel and got stuck somewhere in the leg warmers she wore.
