It was in the year 1936 that the Waldbuhne was built. This was when the Berlin Olympics took place and this theatre was constructed as part of the preparations that took place for the Olympic events. This theatre is said to be a reproduction of the famous 3rd Century theatre located in Epidaurus. Epidaurus was a city of ancient Greece that was situated around the Saronic Gulf. The Asklepieion, who were the residents of the area, were famous for constructing huge and significant landmarks in the area and one of the most famous historical attractions that they built was the theatre. The venue was able to provide seating area for around fifteen thousand spectators and the way it was constructed allowed perfect acoustics throughout the theatre. Furthermore, it provided a spectacular view of the lush and green landscape around the arena. The creators and architects of the Waldbuhne theatre incorporated these elements into its construction and that is why this theatre is also known as the Forest Theatre.

The Forest Theatre has a seating capacity of around twenty two thousand spectators and digs thirty meters into the ground. Previously the theatre was a central place for cultural events and gymnastics, but more recently, concerts, musical events and performances have also been held here. It is also known to hold boxing events. If you wish to attend an upcoming event at the theatre you should purchase Waldbuhne tickets immediately.

When you enter the Forest Theatre you will see a lot of statues that depict the historical value this theatre holds. These statues were created by the sculptor named Adolf Wamper at the time of its construction. The statues are of two nude men to the left and two nude women on the right. The nude men are seen holding a torch and a sword that depict national celebration while the women hold a lyre covered with oak leaves depict musical celebration. The name of the theatre was given in honor of a famous poet of the third century who was said to be one of the most famous poets of the Nazi movement; Dietrich Eckart. The theatre was constructed utilizing the natural elements surrounding the area such as the glacial banks of the river present in the Urstromtal, which is a prehistoric valley in Berlin. The theatre is divided into a total of three sections by vertical aisles located in the theatre. Previously a private box known as Hitler’s box was situated in the middle aisle, however, now this box has been converted into public seating.

Recently the Forest Theatre has acquired massive fame and popularity in terms of hosting musical events and festivals. Usually summer festivals are held here and bands and artists from different genres perform. One of the most famous performances that are held in this theatre is by the Berlin Philharmonic that has been performing at this theatre since the year 1984. Hence, if you are interested in any type of event that is being held at this amphitheatre, all you need to do is acquire Waldbuhne tickets today.
